The Spread Builder tool lets you create spreads based on the instrument you loaded into the Main Order Ticket. At this time City Execution does not support covered spreads, however you can build future spreads or option spreads.
To open Spread Builder, click the wrench icon from the Main Ticket screen. You can return to the Main Order Ticket by clicking the arrow icon in the upper right corner. When Spread Builder first opens, there will be a single leg automatically placed on screen. A valid spread must have at least 2 legs, so to build a spread you will need to add at least 1 leg. To add a leg, click the Copy icon of a leg and an exact copy of the leg will be added to Spread Builder. To delete a leg, click on the Trashcan icon.
To build a spread, create 2 or more legs, all of the same type (Future or Option). If the spread is invalid, the message box at the top of the Spread Builder window will say so, and the box will be outlined in red. The box should contain messages indicating why the spread is invalid. Once you have created a valid spread, the box at the top of the window will either be outlined in blue (if you have created a new spread that is not listed on the exchange) or in green (if you have created an already existing spread).
If you create a spread that is already listed on the exchange, you can RFQ it if you'd like. You can also add it to your order ticket by clicking the Add to Trade button, which will take you back to the Main Ticket screen, with the selected spread populating the screen details. Any linked windows in Eikon will be updated with the new instrument selection as well.
If you build a valid new spread, you can try to get it listed on the exchange by clicking the Create Spread button. If the spread is successfully created, the workflow will be the same as if you just created an existing spread. Otherwise, you will be warned that the spread creation failed.
